Iliffe Media Group is an independent, innovative, multimedia business with an extensive portfolio of newspapers, websites, magazines, radio and television. Our story began more than 300 years ago, when our two oldest titles, the Stamford Mercury (Britain’s oldest newspaper) and the Kentish Gazette, were established.
Today, our news brands continue to be trusted and influential within their communities. We have a combined 1.5 million social media followers and an online audience of millions. Our growing number of digital subscribers can now access all of our newspapers in one innovative app, on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Although we are proud of our heritage, we are clearly focused on the future.

Our news teams work tirelessly to keep readers informed about the things that matter, tackling issues at the heart of the communities we serve. Our journalists live in and care about the areas they cover. They aim to hold authorities to account, challenge ideas and uphold an open justice system, as well as covering the lighter side of life and attending community events. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of journalism. Maintaining high editorial standards is at the very heart of everything we do on a daily basis. We are a member of and are regulated by IPSO, the Independent Press Standards Organisation.
Our journalists work according to The Editors’ Code of Practice, which sets the benchmark for ethical standards in journalism, enforced by IPSO. Our reporters are highly trained and we require them to complete a qualification from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) or the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) before joining the company, or, in the case of our in-house apprenticeship scheme, we offer training which ultimately results in an NCTJ qualification, leading to a range of career opportunities.
